Member Spotlight — Gilles Glacet


Tell us a little about yourself and what got you on the path to CrossFit and Nutrition…

I am from France. I moved to the U.S. 20 years ago to study. Life happened and I stayed. I have a friend who started Crossfit years ago and I would train with him from time to time when we were together. I always exercised and practiced different sports but I became interested in learning new skills through Crossfit.

What made you start in the first place?

Last year, after moving to Charleston and one year of inactivity, I decided it was time to exercise again.

What keeps you coming back each day?

The energy I get from Crossfit and the group. And also, it gets too painful when you stop!

How has your lifestyle changed since starting at CFJI?

I have become more disciplined with exercise and food.

If you had to do 100 reps of one movement (not running), what would it be?

Air squats, it doesn't seem too overwhelming.

What do you like most about your workout crew?

Everyone is nice and welcoming.

What are 1-2 of your goals for 2019?

Handstand walk and getting better at olympic lifts.

Favorite Lift?

Deadlift, because you can pull like an ox and you feeI strong!!!

Least favorite movement?

Overhead squat

Least Favorite Gymnastic Movement?

I have no least favorite movement, I just need to get better at them

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

Rugby player

One thing about me people would be surprised to know?

I'm French, but I don't smell bad.

If the CFJI coaches came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare?

Crepes

What’s the most ridiculous fact you know?

In Japan, more than 40% of people under 35 are still virgins.

What is the funniest joke you know?

I can't say, it's too offensive!
