Tell us a little about yourself and what got you on the path to CrossFit…
I grew up in Asheville, North Carolina playing soccer and getting into trouble. I went to Wofford and played soccer for 4 years. After College Mary Ann (high school girlfriend) and I moved to Charleston so she could go to MUSC. I grew up coming here for spring breaks and my grandparents had a house down here but never thought I would live here. After the first summer I discovered fly fishing and life on the water and never thought about leaving. I built log homes in the summers of high school and college so I took my Finance degree and started working on old houses. 13 years later I’m still working on old houses and married to that high school girlfriend. We’ve got 7 year old twins, girl and boy, that are awesome and we spend a lot of time on the soccer field and in the boat. We live on James Island and feel like we are in a good place surrounded by good people.
I played soccer until I was about 27 and kept my fitness up as habit, but with back problems, kids, and work I let it go. I felt like it was an aspect of life that was missing but at that point in life was not a necessity. 6 months ago Kelly Siedentop and Randy Bowden talked me into coming to a class, then Kyle Coached my On Ramp. That was all she wrote.
