Tell us a little about yourself and what got you on the path to CrossFit…
I was born and raised in northern NJ and was a 3 sport athlete all my life. In college I got into weight lifting and going to the gym but never really saw much results, outside of bulking up. Back then, I worked out at a local gym and there was a trainer who was doing crossfit. I would watch him do these insanely ridiculous workouts and would say to myself HELL NA. It wasn’t till after I broke my leg and I started rehabbing he convinced me to work out with him. I got about 6 months into working out with him 2x a week and noticed all the pain in my leg and knee were gone and I was feeling better than I had felt in a long time. 17 years later, I still have the same feelings for it as I did back then.
What keeps you coming back each day?
I love the feeling that I get after every workout. It is this sense of physical and mental exhaustion mixed with euphoria. I also enjoy the camaraderie that comes with being part of something.
What is your favorite at-home exercise to do?
I would be lying if I said I have a favorite at-home exercise but if I needed to I would say air squats. Simple, easy and can destroy.
If you had to do 100 reps of one movement (not running), what would it be?
My old gym in NJ had this tradition of doing 100 back squats at body weight the day before thanksgiving which I always enjoyed, if I can’t do that then deadlifts.
What are 1-2 of your goals for 2023? Have you accomplished any of these?
I had a goal in 2022 of purchasing a business which I did not accomplish, so it has been pushed into 2023. My second goal is to get my business that I started at the end of last year really functioning and producing daily results by the middle of 2023.
